“I Believe I Can Fly” is one of my all time favorite songs. It is a very inspirational song. The song was written and sung by R. Kelly. The song won him three Grammy Awards. And put him on top of the Billboard Charts in 1997. Here is what I interpreted from the words of the song.

The words are fairly self-explanatory. In the first verse he says he thought he could not go on and that things were not going to get better. Then he found what he had been looking for, that special something, and he realized if he could see it he could do it also. That he should believe and he could do what he wanted to.
In the chorus he talks about believing he can do anything. And he also says, “see me running through that open door.” By this he means when he sees the chance to fly he is going to take it.
The second verse is also about him feeling down and out. How things can be so bad. But he sees that there are miracles he can achieve and to achieve them it starts in his heart.
This song was meant to be an inspirational, uplifting song. I think that R Kelly did the job. This is a song that can get you going when you think everything is out to get you. This is a song everyone should appreciate and learn from.
